About First Experiences in Robotics

Many FIRST teams in South Carolina find it difficult to coordinate robotics demonstrations within their communities. Organizing a single event often requires dozens of emails and hours of communication — and many opportunities never materialize because schools or community groups don't know which team to contact, or teams never receive a response.

First Experiences in Robotics solves this by providing a free online platform where South Carolina robotics teams and South Carolina schools, libraries, museums, youth organizations, and other community groups can easily connect to organize demonstrations and outreach events.

Our pitch

What the platform does

• Allows South Carolina schools and organizations to request robotics demonstrations.
• Allows South Carolina teams to browse and respond to outreach opportunities in their area.
• Provides messaging and scheduling tools to coordinate logistics.
• Serves only as the facilitator — teams bring their own robots, field elements, and presentation materials, while host organizations provide the venue, audience, and event details.
• Operates free of charge and is supported through donations.

The goal

At each demonstration, participating teams introduce students, parents, and educators to FIRST and explain how they can get involved — by joining, mentoring, volunteering with, or supporting local robotics teams and programs. Our long-term goal is to make robotics outreach significantly easier for South Carolina teams and community organizations, increasing the visibility of FIRST programs and inspiring more South Carolina students to get involved in STEM.
